The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has officially opened the application window for the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2026. This state-level eligibility test is mandatory for candidates aspiring to become teachers in Primary (Classes 1–5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6–8) schools across Jharkhand.
The online application process started on April 21, 2026, and candidates are advised to complete their registration well before the deadline to avoid technical issues.

JTET 2026 Selection Process
It is important to note that JTET is an Eligibility Test, not a direct recruitment exam. Qualifying JTET provides you with a lifetime certificate that makes you eligible to apply for teacher recruitment vacancies in Jharkhand.

Written Examination (Offline): The core of the selection process is a Pen-and-Paper based test consisting of two papers:
Paper 1: For those intending to teach Classes 1–5.
Paper 2: For those intending to teach Classes 6–8.
Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score a minimum percentage based on their category:
General / EWS: 60%
BC / EBC: 55%
SC / ST / Women / PwD: 52%
Document Verification: After results are declared, successful candidates may undergo document verification during the final certificate issuance or during specific recruitment drives.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: * Paper 1: 10+2 with 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/B.T.C) or equivalent.
Paper 2: Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed/B.El.Ed or 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
Age Limit: The minimum age to apply is 18 or 21 years (post-dependent), with no upper age limit for most candidates as per NCTE norms.
